There is a reason that at the time of this review David Rose’s The Startup Checklist has 4.8 out of 5 stars on Amazon – because it is a well written, in depth manual that satisfies any questions an aspiring entrepreneur might have through the process of starting their own business and it addresses the necessary steps that must be taken in order to do so successfully. Clearly from the observable customer feedback his book provided them with whatever advice or wisdom they were looking for. I am a student at the University of South Florida and was required to read this book for a course I’m taking in the entrepreneurship program there. I can honestly say that I learned so much through reading this book that I was unaware of prior, both of potential pitfalls and of the technical how-to aspect of the process of establishing a legitimate business entity. At this point I have not yet started my own business however one day in the not so distant future I will and when that day comes I intend to treat The Startup Checklist as if it were scripture because I know it will help me avoid unnecessary mistakes and direct me towards success. Like an instruction manual, it is explicit and understandable. Every tidbit of information it contains is essential as well as pragmatic with no fluff or superfluous anecdotes. Simultaneously, Rose manages to write in a way that is not dry or mundane as if you were reading the instruction manual to a calculator but rather is fun, lighthearted and easy to read. If that were all, this book would still be phenomenal but Rose takes it to another level by providing a multitude of supplementary resources in appendices at the end of the book that the reader can use to compliment the new knowledge they’ve gained. Whether you are a serial entrepreneur with an extensive business portfolio, or someone who has never operated a business in their life, The Startup Checklist will benefit you. If I were to only recommend a single book out of the literal thousands Amazon has on starting a business, this would be the one.Product details

I purchased The Startup Checklist for an entrepreneurship course and was pleasantly surprised at how enjoyable a read it turned out to be. I was also able to hear the author David Rose speak at an entrepreneurship Galla. The book was well written, current, and informative. You can tell that David Rose has 'been there, done that' and speaks from experience.
Although I have not completed this book yet, I think that it is a great book for all high growth startups. I think that it s a very thorough and gave an in-depth look at all aspects from the ground up. Overall I would defiantly recommend this for any person who is thinking about creating a startup. This book will walk you through what steps you will need to take and will force you to think about your product/business and see if it is a viable product. We used this book for my class at USF and it is by far one of the better text books I have had to read. -A.P.
As an outsider in the business realm this book goes down to basics and slowly builds up offering a very clear and honest read. As my first entrepreneurship book, I was expecting something more crude and boring yet it is very engaging and reader friendly with short and concise chapters. I wish the cover was a little more appealing yet it is stays true to its title as all chapters are organized in a checklist-like manner with bullet points and clear title-subtitle layout. Thank you Mr. Rose for sharing your knowledge!
Many entrepreneurs think this is a book for the other entrepreneurs - it is for YOU. At a minimum, ithe "Checklist" will refresh your memory of past mistakes that may have been lost in the successes of past successes.
The Startup Checklist is an invaluable resource for any entrepreneur. As a senior in college looking to own my own startup someday, the information Mr. Rose has presented has been most enlightening. He has distilled decades of experience in clear and concise chapters that will suit anyone from any industry. I especially like how he uses and recommends many current programs, organizational tools, and tidbits of "been there done that" knowledge which can be implemented into any business right away. If you are currently working on a startup or have plans to in the future, I cannot recommend this book enough. Get it, learn it, implement it.
This was an easy to read book with lots of examples and very good appendix. The resources list is extremely helpful, and adds to an already fantastic book.
David Rose writing is both engaging and educational, and he is able to bring across his point without losing you in unnecessary details.
This is a must have for anyone looking to start a business, especially a high growth scalable business. Naturally, a lot of the resources are US focused because David is in the US, but the lessons are easily transferable.
The Startup Checklist was an assigned reading for my Entrepreneurship course, and I was expecting a book that was boring to read with information I didn’t need. I was never planning on starting a business, but this book has opened my eyes to how simple most of the daunting steps can be. At first, I thought the book had too much information on resources that were not really needed, but the wealth of information and detail on the resources given helped calm my nerves by showing me that there are free or cheap ways to help put together a business. When I started reading each chapter I would think that I already knew anything that was about to be covered, but was always surprised with the simple solutions that I would have never known. I think reading this book should be any entrepreneurs first step when starting a new business.
