I found this book because of a post on reddit and I definitely don't regret buying. I was skeptical at first, because while the premise we interesting, first person narration isn't really my thing. But the free chapters I read were enough to grab my attention and now I'm ready to see where the sequel will go since I think the story wrapped up fairly well. A bit trite, but such is the nature of sci-fi. Definitely worth the $3 i paid.Product details

The Bridge A Science Fiction Survival Story Leonard Petracci Caterina Kalymniou Books Reviews
The bridge is a fun and interesting read. The story is unique and allows the reader to use their indignation and enter into the world of The Bridge. The Bridge is a sci-fi story about humanity and how it overcomes tribulations, taking situations out of their control, and shaping them to better accommodate them. The story is entertaining and will keep you interested until the last page, definitely worth a read.
I have no real complaints about the story, but if I had to nit-pick, I would have liked to see the main characters interact more on a personal level. I really enjoy charter stories, so I'm always happy to see the people in stories interacting outside the means of the plot.
I really loved this book. The author has a really clean writing style, with a good mix of action, dialogue, and internal thought. It paces well, keeping you interested the whole way. He has a way of writing very compelling characters, even somewhat with the antagonists. The plot is pretty great. I wouldn't say it's completely unique, but it has a really good spin on the typical Generation Ship trope in SF... what if they forget why they're there, and how/what do they eventually figure out about their survival? I really loved this one, and can't wait to read some other stuff from this author, and hope a sequel comes out of this one.
This book captured my mind each night for about a week until I had finished it. There were a few miss spelled words, others were used out of context. A couple sentences made me question what was trying to be conveyed. They weren't very puzzling though, instead they added color to the story. I have never read a book cover to cover. The times I would read something, I would read technical books for a project I was on, or reading component data sheets to find what components I needed. I was pulled into this story right away and enjoyed the book when all of a sudden, I found that I had finished it. It took about a week for me to read it in its entirety. I consider this as a good read. Not every book is for everybody, but if you can relate with one of the people within the story, you'll find the end come's quickly. I enjoyed this book, you might too.
Discovered this from a writer on Reddit and decided to take a chance. I gotta say, I haven't read a book like this in years. The mystery and world building done by the author drew me in, making me want to leave work to continue reading. Despite the obvious fact that this is an authors first book riddled with amateur character dialogue, I see much potential and can't wait for the next installment.
My only big complaints about the writing was 1) about 1/3 the way through the narration and story completely shift focus to another character that's newly introduced taking me away from the main story and 2) the twist revealing the mystery could have have been better and less overly dramatic.
If you're looking for a book with fleshed out character development, excellent world building, and /mystery/sci-fi give this a go!
An intriguing premise from the beginning. There is almost nothing about this book that doesn't suck you right in. You want to know what happens, and why. I was halfway through it before I put it down for the first time.
The first couple of chapters were OK, and I think the narrator was getting used to his own voice. This isn't a big deal, because there are about 90 chapters.
But quickly after that the quality of everything from the pacing to the writing take off spectacularly. The exposition especially ramps up in quality as the main character learns more about the ship at the same time we do. I would give the book a solid 5 stars if the beginning was as solid as the rest of the book.
The characters can be realistically frustrating, smart, and everything in between. It shows an interesting study of the divergence of 4 separate groups of people. And of course, the ending is more satisfying than I would have expected.
I greatly enjoyed this book as the character development was exceptional, making you understand the motivations and actions of each primary character. The involvement of secondary and tertiary characters was well done so as to add to the depth of the entire story. The plot was captivating, and while there were no major surprises or serious twists, the continuation of the story line through different events and obstacles for characters to overcome were so well written that I had a difficult time putting this down to complete my own work.
At it's core, the book is about the struggle of humanity and individuals to overcome difficulties faced, whether this is an attempt to change careers in a thinly veiled caste system, or to avoid an extinction level event. These struggles continue as both the individuals and humanity as a whole struggles against itself, while also working together to overcome these obstacles; it is an excellent narrative of the human experience set in a science fiction setting. And while I stated earlier that there are now plot twists or surprises, there is, however, a single event much later in the book (not necessarily relevant to the immediate story line) which makes your addiction to this piece of literature send you into literary withdrawal wanting more of this story.
If you enjoy science fiction, and stories about humanity overcoming impossible odds even as it fights with itself, then you will enjoy this very well written story. I am eagerly awaiting more from this author in the same story's universe.
